FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If you do not see your question answered below, please feel free to email the Program Manager.
When is PRP4?
The Preserving the Recent Past 4 (PRP4) conference includes events between March 18 and 23, 2025. For a more detailed schedule, please visit the Conference Program page.
Where is PRP4?
The primary location of the conference will be hosted at the Boston Architectural College at 320 Newbury Street, with additional programming at the nearby Hynes Convention Center, Boston City Hall, and MIT’s Kresge Auditorium. For specific details on the locations of the events planned, please consult the Conference Program page.
What is the cost to attend?
General registration includes all PRP4 paper sessions, keynotes, and receptions. Early bird registration for the entire conference is offered at $400, and single-day admission at $250. After January 31, 2025, this price will increase to $500 for the entire conference and $325 for single-day admission. The tours and workshop are provided at an additional cost to the conference registration, priced between $20 and $175 per event.
There are reduced registration rates for speakers/moderators, as well as Docomomo US members and students. For more information on event registration costs, please visit the Registration page.
HOW DO I REGISTER?
Visit the Registration page to register for the conference events, workshops, and tours. If you are a sponsor and would like to use your comped registrations, please email the Program Manager for additional information.
CAN I GO ON A TOUR IF I AM NOT REGISTERED FOR THE CONFERENCE?
No, our tour tickets are reserved for our PRP4 conference registrants.
I wanted to register for a specific tour, but it is full. What Should I Do?
Please add yourself to the waitlist. All tours have a waitlist, and in many cases, it works out that if you are on the waitlist, you will get on the tour. If we have enough people on the waitlist, sometimes it is possible to add a second tour. We do our best to accommodate everyone, but space is limited. If there is a tour you really want to go on, the best thing to do is register early.
Does PRP4 have a virtual component?
We are not planning to stream any of the conference programs at this time.
Do I need a car?
For most PRP4 events, traveling by car will not be necessary. The Boston Architectural College is within walking distance of the Hynes Convention Center, and both are accessible by public transportation. If you choose to drive, the closest parking garage is at 50 Dalton Street (the early bird rate is $26 and max daily rate is $42).
MBTA, commonly known as the “T,” is the local transit system comprising both subway, commuter rail, and bus lines. Day or week-long passes are available for purchase at the subway stations. Check out this MBTA visitor’s guide here for more info.
Getting to and from Boston’s Logan Int. Airport: The MBTA runs a shuttle bus service to and from Boston’s Logan International Airport on the Silver Line. It is free to go from the airport to downtown Boston. The SL1 bus stops at every terminal at the airport. You can follow signs within the airport for the Silver Line to get to the terminal curb. Click here for more info on the Silver Line.
Getting to the Boston Architectural College: If taking the subway, the closest station to the Boston Architectural College is the Hynes Convention Center stop on the Green Line via the B, C, or D train.
*Tip: Download Apple Maps or the MBTA Go app for up-to-date information on train/bus times, directions, and delays. Select “directions,” then tap the train icon on Apple Maps for train and bus details.
Uber, Lyft, and taxis are also prevalent throughout the city.
Will AIA credits be available?
The keynote, all sessions, and tours will be submitted for AIA credits. Pending approval, information about the amount and type of credits will be added to the website. You will fill out a sign-in sheet with your AIA number during the conference, and Historic Preservation Education Foundation will report your credits. You must attend all presentations within a session to receive credit for that session. If you have any questions about credits, please email the Program Manager.
WHAT IS THE REFUND POLICY?
Refund requests up to 30 days prior to the symposium (received by February 18) will be refunded in full minus a $25 administrative fee; requests received 15-29 days prior to the symposium (February 19 - March 3) will receive a 50 percent refund. No refund requests will be honored after March 4th or for no-shows. All refund requests must be sent to the Program Manager in writing. Registration substitutions can be submitted in writing at any time without penalty.
